DHAULAGIRI TREKKING

Dhaulagiri trekking

Short info:
A lesser climbed 8,000 meters peak: Dhaulagiri Peak is a challenging peak to climb lying in a remote North central Nepal. With several climbing routes, expedition is normally done through the Northeast ridge which is the classical route.

Dhaulagiri Base Camp

Overview:
Situated in western Nepal, Dhaulagiri stands as the seventh highest mountain in the world at 8,167 meters above sea level. In Sanskrit, Dhaulagiri translates into Dhavala giri, meaning “White Mountain.” Being the only mountain lying entirely within Nepal, it was first climbed on May 13, 1960 by a Swiss/Austrian/Nepali expedition.
Due to it being a little more remote than its more accessible cousins, Dhaulagiri is one of the lesser climbed 8000 meter peaks. This challenging expedition takes you to spectacular wilderness areas following a circuitous route around the mountain from French Pass (5,360 m) to approach the summit from the North East Col.
Walking up the narrow Chin Barden gorge, we trek towards Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4,740m). The impressive north face of Dhaulagiri I, II, III, V and Tukuche Peaks and the imposing icefall that cascades from the north east col of Dhaulagiri I dominates the skyline. Via the Northeast Ridge, four camps will be set up for the climbing. Advance Base Camp at 5,300 m, camp one at 5,900 m, camp two at 6,400m, camp three at 7,200 m and finally camp four at 7,500 m.After the successful attempt, we retrace our path via the high passes and descend to Jomsom where our trek ends and from where we shall fly out to Pokhara.
