Mera,Island With Amphu Labtsa

MERA PEAK

Short info:
Separated by the high technical Amphu Labsta Pass (5700m), Mera Peak (6,476m) and Island Peak (6,189m) are two of the most popular trekking peaks located in the remote Hinku valley and Imja Valley of the Khumbu region.
ISLAND PEAK

Overview:

Mera (6,476m) & Island Peak (6,189m) are two of the most popular trekking peaks in the Nepal Himalaya and this expedition combines attempts on both mountains with a trek through the remote Hinku Valley and a crossing of the spectacular and difficult Amphu Laptsa Pass (5,700m).
Walking along the high rocky ridge through dense forests and across several streams, this trek takes us to the Hinku valley. This valley is one of the wildest and beautiful valleys with its massive moraines, glacial lakes and beautiful mountain views. From the summit of Mera, you can see five highest mountains in the world: Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyo, as well as other Himalayan peaks.
After the successful summit of Mera Peak, we head eastwards into the mountain wilderness of the Upper Honku Valley. Trekking beneath the towering ramparts of Chamlang, with Lhotse and Everest clearly visible ahead, we reach the five large sacred glacial lakes known as Panch Pokhari. From here, we make the tough crossing of the technical Amphu Labsta which is basically the low point on the ridge between the Hinku and Imja Valleys. Dropping down into the Imja Valley, we set up our base camp below Island Peak. We have two days to climb this excellent peak which lies close to the imposing south face of Lhotse. After another successful summit, we descend the Everest trail to Namche Bazaar and complete our circuit trek at Lukla.
