Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek via French and Dhampus Pass

Dhaulagiri Trek

Dhaulagiri is the world's seventh highest peak and along with Annapurna I, stands facing each other over the Kali Gandaki River, which forms the deepest river valley on earth. This challenging trek takes you to spectacular wilderness areas as we travel around the entire Dhaulagiri massif and along valleys that are little travelled by locals.

One of Nepal`s toughest and best circuit treks, this classic adventure trekking holiday is relatively strenuous and needs some previous high altitude trekking experience and requires excellent physical condition.
Dhaulagiri Base Camp

The trek begins from Beni on the Kali Gandaki River and Magars and main ethnic group living in the area. Following Myagdi Khola, the trail passes through an ever-changing landscape, thick forests and numerous picturesque villages and terraced fields till we reach Italian Base Camp.
Crossing Dhampus Pass

After walking up the narrow Chonbarden gorge, we trek towards Dhaulagiri Base Camp. The impressive north face of Dhaulagiri I, II, III, V and Tukuche Peaks and the imposing icefall that cascades from the north east col of Dhaulagiri I dominates the skyline. Next, we then cross French Pass (5,360m) into Hidden Valley. This tough and straightforward pass which is the highlight of the trek lies close beneath the northern slopes of Dhaulagiri and offers stunning mountain views. From Hidden Valley, we cross Dhampus Pass (5,244m) and start the long descent to Jomsom where our trek ends and from where we shall fly out to Pokhara.
